Volunteer Cleanup along the Jackson River
Help us keep the Jackson River Scenic Bike Trail clean and enjoyable for all users. Volunteer to spend a morning with us as we walk the entire trail picking up trash and removing limbs off the trail. We meet at 9 a.m. for a quick continental breakfast of pastries, juice, and coffee with the Alleghany Outdoors staff. After breakfast, we divide up into groups, issue trash bags and gloves, then hit the trail to walk or bike the entire section looking for trash to collect and branches to clear.
We also inspect the trail for larger items such as tree limbs, potholes, or washouts that need to be worked by professional staff. Work time depends on how many volunteers we have, but we should be able to cover the whole trail before lunchtime. Not only does it feel great to help, but you also get to enjoy this beautiful trail as you help maintain it.
