Learn to Paddle with a Certified Instructor
Want to learn to paddle the right way? Sign up for an Intro to Kayaking class taught by a certified ACA instructor. This five-hour class includes about two hours of land-based paddling instruction followed by a short lunch break (bring your own), then a two-and-a-half-hour paddle on a 4-mile stretch of the Upper Jackson River to work on your paddling skills. This trip is great for first-time paddlers or those who have paddled some but are now ready for a class to better enjoy your days on the river. This class is highly informative and fun!
The class includes five hours of instruction and practice in a classroom and on the river. All kayaks, PFDs, and equipment are provided. We cover many elements of the ACA Quick Start class.
MINIMUM AGE
The recommended minimum age for this class is 8 years old. For insurance and safety reasons, the minimum age for any river trip is 6 years old. No underage exceptions. Small kids must be in boats with their parents or guardians.
ALCOHOL PROHIBITED
To keep all our activities family friendly and to operate within park limits, all classes are alcohol-free. Paddle sports and alcohol don’t mix.
